The stupid moderator had deleted my account for supposed defamation, so I repeated the comments about Jan Lugg, added a few others, and sent it to the Citizen as a letter. It was published in its entirety today. So, I am still banned from the Citizen website for having said less than I said in a letter which they happily published in the paper. They really are cretins - which is insulting to real cretins, but not defamatory to anyone!

I noticed that. Even bought a copy, because I thought my daughter was in it, twice.*
Not sure if this will work...
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/GlosCitizen">@gloscitizen</a> So why DID you ban Kay Powell 4 alleged abusive comments, then publish the letter she repeats them in? <a href="http://t.co/ZqfwPbSZId">pic.twitter.com/ZqfwPbSZId</a></p>— Joe K (@trollhunterx) <a href="https://twitter.com/TrollhunterX/statuses/492780961948766210">July 25, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Well, not sure what that's supposed to be 'embedded' in, but not this site, apparently. It's the text you see with a screenshot of the letter, on Twitter.
*By the way, you wouldn't happen to have a map of the the Glevum Way walk?

No, I haven't got a map of the Glevum Way. You probably have to buy one.

I'm out of luck there. This site gave me the impression I could buy one for a pound from the Tourist Information Office, but when I asked, they were out of print (maybe the price was a clue). They suggested WHSmith, but nothing there. Even the library couldn't help. The reason I needed a proper guide is that the site above contains a really sketchy illustration of the route. It jumps around Gloucester in big straight lines that bear little or no relation to the actual path. Why this matters, and it's a complicated story, is that in the wee hours of last Wednesday, my daughter was one of a group of students sent on a 'midnight walk' of the Glevum Way to raise money for the Pied Piper appeal. That's a 24 mile slog that starts at the docks, goes down through Hempsted to Quedgeley, passing the canal, then swings by Whaddon and up through Brockworth and Churchdown, finally passing through Longford and back to the college via Alney Island. They expected to finish around 9 in the morning, but I don't think they ever got near Alney Island. Around ten minutes in (at the suggestion, apparently, of Ismael Rhyman, who started the walk with them*, but stopped at that point), they hit briars, nettles and even barbed wire, acording to my daughter. Not long after that, she says, they got lost, and then the people in charge decided to just wander about until they had walked the required distance. Surprisingly, for me, she says they did get to Churchdown, and passed Staverton airport. What gets me is that this route was supposedly 'risk assessed' the previous Saturday, and markers were put up, so I didn't see why anyone should have to have walked through briars on a public footpath, let alone barbed wire. I wanted to trace at least the first few miles of the route to see if the county council was keeping it in good repair (there are plenty of places, especially around Alney Island, where vegetation is clearly not being kept in check at all, like the paths leading off the A430). However, a bit more Googling revealed a much better online resource. This OpenStreetMap gives a precise overlay, although it doesn't cover the entire route. It was enough for me to find where the Way sets off from, if not the docks, then a bend in the road leading to Hempsted tip. You could very easily miss this spot. There is a sign, but it's broken off, and the actual route is covered by vegetation. However, there's a cattle gate just a few metres on that gives much easier access to the field beyond. That might have been difficult to appreciate in the middle of the night, though. The barbed wire is further on, and again, it's avoidable if you can see the landscape around you. The route actually becomes quite pleasant around St. Swithin's church, where I stopped for orange juice and chocolate slices, but Glevum Way signs peter out around the end of Rhea Lane, where I returned via the canal towpath. I think the signage for this walk needs to be restored, at least at Alney Island, where the only 'GW' post seems to be by the bridge across from The Quays. Perhaps a grant can arranged for this, as properly sign-posted walks must be encourage exercise. As for Gloucestershire College, I don't blame them so much for the night walk, as given the warm weather, it must have seemed like an interesting twist that would save a lot of sweat, but a bit more preparation might have helped. I hope I can use the two online maps to trace the full route on the OS map (think I've figured out the south part), and maybe the next bunch of students will actually know where they're going. Or I find a copy of that guide... *in one of the 12 hi-viz vests I lent them, which he hasn't returned yet.

I suggest that you contact the Ramblers' footpaths officer for Gloucestershire jill.byrne@tesco.net and ask her if she has an electronic copy that she can sell to you.

After two weeks of complaints and arguing, I've been reinstated to the Citizen website. I am now reporting the rugby troll's comments from February and March yet again. Let's see if they can delete them this time.

You'll have to tell me your secret. I don't think they'll ever re-instate me, though our views aren't so different. Maybe I'm a little more on the nose about Eastwood and Hawthorne. No, I seem to recall you raised that as an issue a while back, or it might have been someone else's FoI request... BTW, John Street, from Churchdown (Ramblers Gloucester) has managed to russle up a Glevum Way guide. I think he's posting it to me. He didn't say anything about the cost, so it might be a freebie

The Cookie Monster has been working overtime today. No sooner have I posted a comment on the Citizen website, than it attracts forty or more negatives.

I still wonder if you've been targeted to show how open the ratings system is to abuse. No-one can really think your comments deserve such a drubbing.

No, I still believe that it is someone linked to the city farm.
