Action taken against vehicles parked on cycle lanes with broken lines in Stroud RdDear Gloucestershire County Council, How many times have tickets been issued to vehicles left parked on cycle lanes bordered by intermittent white lines in Stroud Road? Does the fact that, as Sally Godwin claims, 'there is little we as Highway Authority or the District Council / Police as enforcement authorities can do to prevent vehicles parking in them' (because they are 'advisory'), mean that little *is* done? Cycle lanes which vehicles can't be kept off aren't really cycle lanes at all, are they, whether or not those vehicles cause cyclists to have acidents? And if a need was seen to have cycle lanes in the first place, wouldn't enforcement of them be taken as a given? (note that the original excuse for intermittent lines on cycle lanes along most of Stroud Road was that they allowed vehicles to cross the lines to access drive ways, etc. As many of the broken lines pass by hedges, walls and fences, there is no reason for them to be broken in the first place, but the county council, rather than answering this point, has defaulted, via Sally Godwin, to an irrelevant and evasive answer) Currently waiting for a response from Gloucestershire County Council, they must respond promptly and normally no later than 9 September 2014

Council/Civica policy on blocking residents' emails'Dear Gloucester City Council, 'Please provide the details of what procedures have, according to Martin Shields, recently been put in place by the council's partners, Civica, regarding residents being blocked from sending emails to the council (blocks which the council told this questioner in a previous FoI request did not happen). 'Also, what information does the council possess relating to whether Civica, or the council, has ever warned residents of a potential block, or notified them of its imposition, and will it/they do either of these things now? 'Finally, will the council disclose how many residents have been blocked in this way?' It's clear from the nature of his emails that Martin Shields doesn't intend to allow the £200 promised to me as a 'full and final payment' from Civica to be released unless I agree to stop seeking the facts. If he was being truthful in his assertion that this is all the money Civica or the city council are going to pay, then he wouldn't need to withhold the money. In fact, if the truthful answers are what I think they are, Gloucester City Council and Civica could be liable to a much larger fine in punitive damages. Personally, I don't care about the money, but I do care about the truth, and the character of those who claim to act responsibly on our behalves, while hiding from their obligations.
