I don't think that they are actually required by law to put up a notice. I remember having a go at some council or other a few years ago about the lack of a planning notice for some application that I hadn't known about till too late, and they said that a notice is only legally required for a major development. Only people living near the site have to be notified.

After I popped in to Barton & Tredworth Developments today, just before closing time (didn't learn much, but I did learn that Bren McInerney is on the board, so looking forward at some point to hearing why he didn't mention to anyone else that the BTNP was no more), I went up the road a bit to look at the alley. They have notices now, at both ends, dated December 20th, but if you told me they weren't there yesterday, I'd be more inclined to believe you, Kay, given the council's record in these things.
Shoot, the file's too big...

I last looked at the Russell Street end of the alleyway on Sunday night, and I didn't see a notice. I suspect that they were made up on Friday but not put in place till Monday morning.
What file are you talking about?

I was going to post a picture I took, but the file was a shade over what was permissable. I did it post it on Twitter, they're much more tolerant, though FixMyStreet is best...
