Is it possible that the cookie monster is following the people that they are attacking, they seem to "attack" their comments very quickly as if they are getting notifications of their posts, it seams to affect KAY the most, she should have had an email when they started following her, check back and see if that is about the same time they started following like to know the answer to this one...........

Haven't given much thought to how people track their targets. I just assumed they had too much time on their hands, or help. But on the cookie business, I've always been curious to know how some people can apparently give multiple ratings, and would have like someone to reveal the details, so everyone can do it (if they want to), and hence bring an end to a discredited system that much sooner. However, just over a month or so back, I discovered by accident that I could give unlimited 'thumbs', either way. I only used this capability to rectify the more obvious abuses, but I did notice, as Glosanarchy has, that those abuses were quite uniform in thumbs awarded, -17 being typical. I suspected that this was may not necessarily have been personal abuse but the very attempt to discredit the system that I mentioned above, and I did my bit by giving arbitrary +42 ratings, sometimes higher (when I had time on my hands). Here is an article where I've added 9 points to bdbear's score, making 10. I could raise Kay's to +24 or higher, but the abuse is so evident now that I think it's unnecessary. Dispersal order to tackle anti-social behaviour in Gloucester city centre starts in May
The newest comment makes interesting reading. People trying to do public good (if we take un_known1944 at his/her word) demonised and written off according to the prejudices of the ill-informed. When has that ever happened before?

And has anyone looked at Discussions recently? Apart from the top four, irony seems like the order of the day...

Just looked at the page and have to agree the paper has lost control of the site, they had to stop stories about Gloucester rugby from having any comments due to the troll. This troll has effectively censored the rest of us by making it impossible for anyone to comment on the stories. Their lack of action has devalued the website and is making it less likely that they will attract quality advertising!

Or perhaps not. Our latest 'member' has posted a similar message. The difference being that windadicool has a spam link in his/her signature, which the ones posting to TiG haven't, unless they were removed, which sounds more responsible than I would give TiG credit for...

Just to clarify, my 'perhaps not' was in reference to my post, not yours, Tim.
I don't follow the rugby correspondence, but Kay has mentioned this 'rugby troll'. Since the days of Chris Roberts and his [ex?] wife, serial offenders seem to have been scarce (or I've not been paying enough attention), unless you count me, and I have been scandalously callumnied, of course...

I'm not aware that anyone is following me. I've not received any notification, and I can't see any followers on my profile page.

The Citizen had a huge clearout of many hundreds (probably thousands) of spam messages on its community forum a while ago, but it clearly doesn't monitor the forum on a regular basis.

The rugby troll takes extreme offence at any comments on anything even remotely connected to rugby. After all, I'm not interested in rugby and therefore don't usually make comments on rugby-related stories, but he now lumps me together with a host of other people who have earned his ire by daring to comment on rugby issues.

I'd not looked at my profile on the Echo site before. I don't seem to have any followers there either. There's an advert for Chinese prostitutes just below my profile photo. Nice.

the individual cookie that you have to delete to multi-rate a post is called 'tinRatings'.

Presumably, though, all that the cookie monster has to do is click on 'clear browsing history'? That's probably quicker and easier than finding and deleting a single cookie. Whoever it is, they are wasting a lot of their time on the practice.

I think that the evidence shows that the cookie monster is someone associated with Gymnasian. He certainly didn't like my comment on the Citizen website about the defacing of Nigel Farage on the UKIP poster.

I had my user account on the Citizen website disabled nearly four days ago, and so far I've been unable to get them to respond to my emails. This is the second time that this has happened this year. The last time, they finally replied that my account was now enabled, but never said why they disabled it in the first place.
It seems that someone didn't like my comment regarding Councillor Jan Lugg (because it disappeared at the same time that my account was disabled), but I only pointed out that she seems to always support development on green fields in the Matson area, despite not living nearby. Controversial stuff!
