Anyhoo, while I would like to make the effort, on the point of principle, to attend today's Street Rep meeting, sadly, as Rachel went into hospital on Monday night (being put in the resuscitation unit at one point), and is still staying in ward 7a, even I can't be so irresponsible as to go to a meeting, the while. At last a good excuse to avoid what would surely have been an unpleasant experience, with or withou the intervention of our thuggish police sergeant.
Such a pity that such is the case with something that ought to be a welcome opportunity for residents to be involved in how their community is run...

Very sorry to learn about Rachel's illness.
Yesterday, while walking my dog around St. James' Park, which I haven't done for such a long time, I realised that I had mis-identified the large tree next to the riding arena site. It is a large Norway maple (Acer platanoides), not a sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus). I'm now feeling rather embarrassed.

I'm pretty clueless about our native flora, large and small. I sometimes think about making a list, with pics, of common wild plants, so I can fix in my mind which ones are hazardous to touch when weeding...

Vanda's in favour, but of course she doesn't know how small St. James' Park is or how little public open space there is in the area.

How ridiculous is it that 'lighting' is being used as the pretext for the withdrawal? As if they haven't already introduced amendments to the plans, even though the planners failed, if the receptionist is to be believed, to extend the consultation period, or properly date the amendments...

I've just looked on a website called DueDil.com, and I see that Gymnasian UK Limited is a private company with a single founding director, Mr. Haroon Kadodia, who presumably owns the company. It is estimated to be worth £153K. The charity business clearly pays quite well. A quick Google has told me that Haroon lives in Tredworth and likes fantasy novels and films and thinks that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the finest example of a human being.

I hear a lot of gossip about the name 'Kadodia' in Tredworth from my source on Stratton Rd. The drug dealing is confirmed by TiG. But hate the sin, not the sinner/s He fits right in with this bunch, clearly... www.bartredfirst.co.uk/panelMembers.shtml

The law centre would be a complete waste of time. They insist they only deal with social housing issues. And Kate Haigh works there.

Are we sure that Faheem Kadodia is the son of Haroon Kadodia? Haroon seems to have a brother named Ilyas. I think that they are the sons of Yusuf Kadodia, who lives in Arthur Street and used to be a director of Gloucester Asian Elders Group. Also, there is a PC Jenny Kadodia. She may or may not be the same person as Jennifer Alison Kadodia, aged about 47, who lives in King's Walk and was a director of Axcess Energy Limited. Googling comes up with loads of people with the surname Kadodia who live in Gloucester.
Did you know that Haroon is apparently employed by Gloucestershire County Council? At any rate, he has a council email address, which he uses for Asian Elders: haroon.kadodia@gloucestershire.gov.uk Asian Elders meet at Charter Court and - what a surprise - the men get two half days per week, while the women get just one half day. I assume that the argument is that the women get as much time as they need...

I've just found a county council pdf document from March 2009 that refers to: "The Social Services Team, led by Haroon Kadodia". So he is employed by the council as a social worker. That's the same council that has just given Gymnasian a £16,000 grant.

It's up to people to infer such, since they seem to enjoy spreading rumours without any attempt to fact-check in my case. But there does seem to be far too much going on with both councils, and only political correctness getting in the way of straight answers.

Hmm. I don't really think that he can be blamed for the criminality of his nephew.

Nor did I say that he should be. Drug dealing, though, is something that needs to be addressed actively by supposed 'community leaders', not treated as a dirty little secret.
It remains interesting how such activities were apparently enough to close down the Golden Heart, while the All Nations Club on Chase Lane is plagued with drug dealing and firearms offences, yet is allowed to carry on. Where is the outcry from the council about these premises?
