In other news, en route to the city council offices by bike, I saw that the Dawn Redwood tree petitioners tried to save from felling at the former Gloscat site is now gone. So much for that. It wasn't quite as rare as some people made out, but it's still a little bit of history gone, rather than an effort being made to accommodate it. Save the Gloscat Redwood tree

You've just noticed this??? It was felled so long ago that I can't actually remember exactly when it was. I think that it was back in the winter or early spring. They've only just - about a week ago - finished demolishing everything on the Greyfriars side of the road, although The Citizen reported ages ago that the demolition was finished.

Yep, just noticed. The only time I get anywhere close to the demolition area, now we don't use the Eastgate Shopping Centre carpark, is when I visit the council offices, and I haven't done that for ages. The Facebook page about saving the tree was deleted, before it was even felled, and nobody in the media seemed to think it worthy of mention...
