I'm not wrong, am I? The election of the police chief commissioner is in November, and so our 'top cop, Tony Melville, really is away with the fairies when he send a letter of congratulations to the 'winner'? Particularly when he speaks about 'the approach you took during your campaign, listening to local people and professionals, managing to balance local with national issues'. Either he is very sure that he knows who the winner will be, which is tantamount to an endorsement - although how much value an endorsement from him might be is debatable - or he is guessing what the candidates will say. Or worse, trying to influence the election by suggesting to the candidates what a winning strategy might be. Or, of course, he might just be psychic, in which case he might be better off predicting the next lottery numbers. I suppose, long story short, he is just flapping his gums. But why on earth does TiG give him space to do so..?
