As it happens, I've been meaning to raise the issue of the allotments in Tredworth for some time now.
The news below is therefore timely.
This Wednesday, the 29th, between 4 and 6pm, there will be a littler-picking exercise at the Tredworth Fields allotments (entrance by the gates by Bathurst Road, next to the closed railway crossing), to tidy up the 'newly-fallowed areas'.
According to the poster (which is atached to the gate facing the allotment, not the road), litter pickers, gloves and plastic bags. Oh, and tea and cake. A barbecue might be too much to expect, but who knows?
Hopefully, more information about work days will be picked up, and posted on this forum. We might also discuss the pros and cons of the 10ft high fences which have now been put around most of the access points (now the vandals are being kept out, will plot owners feel a greater sense of unity, or be put off by the high security?).

I must have been in a hurry when I wrote the above...
The litter-picking was postponed for a week (half an hour after it was scheduled to start), because of an earlier shower which may have made the ploughed plots a bit messy for people walking over them. Yesterday, although half a dozen people were there to view plots, only three were there to pick, and one of them was regular volunteer, Holly Patten. The postponement poster was also on the inside of the gate, so not a surprise. And no tea or cake in sight.
I'm seeing mixed signals. On the one hand, the council seem to be encouraging new plot-owners, but on the other, they needed to advertise the litter-pick much more widely, to the partnership, and certainly at Parry Hall, across the green, and liaise with the allotment holders group to make the most of the occasion. With the far end of the strip gone completely wild, lack of real commitment from the council will see the area sold for housing in a few years.
