But the Planning Committee didn't grant permission; it was a delegated decision, over which they have no control, unless they choose to have a fight with the officers. I get the feeling that members of the Planning Committee already think that their workload is too large, so I can't see them trying to increase it.

Yes, I mispoke with the first sentence. I should have said 'the council'. It seems astounding to me that with council officers making recommendations against the applications, officers like Jones see fit to just rubberstamp it...
