Given how faceless (ironically) Facebook is, it seems strange that they would be so keen to show a stern visage to this woman. What makes it worse is that she's the victim of death threats, and her 'offence' is to reposting those threats. I know plenty of people won't use Facebook because of concerns about their security. This kind of thing will hardly encourage them to try it...

Yes, it's odd that these faceless moderators seem more keen to ban the victim of online abuse than do something about the perpetrators.

To be fair, although the sentiment rather sticks in my throat where fb is concerned, I would think that the perpetrators have been dealt with to the extent that they can be. Those of us who have had dealings with thisisgloucestershire.co.uk, or BBC Online for that matter, know that the 'Guide Lines' are a bastiche, and you can't flout them, whatever other people seem to be allowed to get away with. If we ever got to the point where I had to moderate a post here, I'd be happy to be challenged, publicly or by PM, but I don't have to fret, or make a lot of noise like Eddie, about being sued over content, so open challenges are fine. Corporations don't have so much wiggle room.
Whereas, while it sucks to be hauled over the coals for what seems like a technicality, and especially have a ban extended over a 'dead link', I hope that when Hildur is re-instated, she finds ways to publish everything she did before without infringing Facebook's rules (though the guy in question basically gave her permission to re-post). I think the publicity has made them slightly more irrelevant now, anyway.

Merry Xmas, Eddie, and to all the other lurkers Clarification of my last sentence, btw. I meant that Facebook, not the abusers, has become less relevant through its/their actions against Hildur.
