Why has part of this thread been moved to the spam folder? All of Gary's input is spam, so what was different? Sorry, rookie slip of not realising this thread was on a new page... I could just say that if critics want active moderation, they can't also expect to dictate the form that moderation will take. I will say that some of Gary's stuff is spammier than others, and I wanted to put something in the hidden folder, just to make the point that people can't rely on me to leave every smartarse comment visible now. They weren't all Gary's, anyway. And I'm not entirely banning trolling on the politics board. I still don't think all trolling is abusive. There was even a reference in one of Gary's posts (a reaaaally long one) in Troll Nominations to a tweet by InfoSec Taylor Swift, saying that trolling used to be a way of manouvering an opponent into undermining their own argument. I've seen that kind of thing, and I wouldn't call it abuse. If I saw it on my board, I would just regard it as the cut and thrust of political debate, and no worse than anything Paxo or Eddie Mair has said. I have not and never will be one, honestly you've stalked my tweets thoroughly enough to know that I never have been homophobic and in fact I stand up for LGBTQ+ rights whenever I can, as well as supporting LGBTQ+ individuals, and do not approve of, in fact I deplore homophobic individuals. Wrong on three counts, that I've 'abandoned the board', that I can't 'cope with it anymore', but most importantly, that any change of moderating policy is down to the 'disruptions' of the only persistent troll, rather than my recognition, acknowledged weeks ago now, that my own vision for this board is unlikely to ever be realised. A recognition that chimes with assertions off-board by others, including the real Eddie. As you're pretending to be him, you might state whether you regard this as an improvement, or not? Else, who's being the 'hypocrite'?

My mistake - you didn't leave the board at all, you're clearly on top of things here, and the crazy posts weren't disrupting anything at all. Conversation is flowing beautifully at all times.
Who the hell is the "real Eddie"? I didn't realize there was only one. He must be quite a man.
Improvements? I'm not sure that deleting random posts for no reason is an improvement - you should work on it.
